BIOTECHNOLOGIES APPLIED TO VINE CULTIVATION TO REDUCE THE USE OF COPPER

SYMBIAGRO is an innovative Italian company, active in biotechnology applied to agriculture, specialized in R&D, production and sale of biofertilizers and biostimulant, with a pool of microorganism, developed in our R&D laboratories, promoting the natural collaboration between microorganisms and plants.

SYMBIOTHRIVE PRO AZ is a complete nutritional biostimulant with natural promoters of the endogenous defenses of plants, that promote a quicker response to stresses from the external environment.

The product consists in a base of nutritional components from vegetal organic matrices of the highest profile, yeast extracts and brown algae, plus microelements (Boron, Iron and Manganese). All these components are activated by a specific pool of non-pathogenic microorganisms (PGPR bacteria, mycorrhizae, etc.), in form of a specially designed and formulated microbiological inoculum able to reactivate and improve the soil microbiome.

During 2019 agronomic tests were carried out on valuable vineyards in organic farming, in the province of Florence, in the Chianti area and in near Brescia in Franciacorta region.

The common objective of these tests was to verify the effectiveness of SYMBIOTHRIVE PRO AZ with a thesis about reducing copper products and chemical fungicides for downy mildew control. Two protocols were carried out with a reduced copper dosage, up to 25% less, compared to the minimum effective dose of copper for organic farming.

The inclusion of SYMBIOTHRIVE PRO AZ in the protocol has led to a better resilience towards abiotic stress evidenced by a reduced expression of the disease on the vegetative organs of plants.

The final result has been better than the treatment to full dosage of copper, both from the quality point of view and in terms of supply cost (despite copper or fungicide cost).
